Inspired by the
funeral for Evita
There's melancholy
fanfare in all of the streets
A cry put forth like
that of whispered bleats
A hush in the air
presses all around
Confetti of petals
fall and shower the ground
Like tears below
sullen black hair
The mood dips for
the people gathered in the square
The death of a
beloved- the dimming of a star
It makes us pray
both near and very far
That we never suffer
as such we do this day
Sorry, but the
feeling's so real, even if it seems cliche
People line the
streets as the coffin passes, slowly by
One last chance to
earn a look with tears all in the eye
Our leader comes
forth and now solemnly he stands
A somber wreath and
folded flag in his hands
The speech to
comfort us and grant us some relief
The sadness, the
loss, the passion, and the grief
So much weight for
all of us to bear
So many who came, so
many who cared
