Were I a Tree

Tall trees surround and look down on me
I wonder what they say for I am not a tree
For if I were I could speak their tongue
Converse with the old and laugh with the young
I would grow tall so you could have a look around
Climb among my branches please don't fall down
Pick at my fruit when it's ripe and sweet
Find in my shade a cool retreat
I'd sway and dance when the wind comes round
Pray no one comes to chop me down
It would be so neat to be a tree
But I can't so I won't and I'll just be me
